VICKY DELVAUX

“I left my corporate job at DaVita Inc. and decided to turn things upside down-spending spring through fall in rural Trinidad, CO. Hired as a seasonal worker at a local Hemp farm, my main job was twofold:

1) Make sure the plants were healthy and bug-free.

2) Organize the early 1900s farmhouse.

At a typical workday took on many different forms, but I always ended up being covered in dust, dirt, sweat… and mosquito bites. So. Many. Bites.

One of my favourite memories was when the old farmer’s 2,000-pound bull broke out. We chased after him on ATVs across several lots, coming face-to-face with the animal a few times in an attempt to corner it. Like a true old-school cowboy, the 80-year-old farmeer got on his horse, and ‘yeehawd’ it back to its enclosure. Four hours of pumping adrenaline!”
