“In 2016, I was asked by the Democratic Party in Macedonia to consult on their upcoming national elections. It was clear the pro-western Democrats were very far behind after 10 plus years out of power.

The ruling party was led by a Russian-backed authoritarian. He controlled a state-captured media, police and judicial system. Embarking on a high-contrast, high-touch campaign with an alternative path for the future, we came back from a 20 point plus polling deficit to triumph in the parliamentary elections.

In the years that followed, I was able to help the Ministry of Finance achieve investment grade credit for the first time in Macedonia’s existence. To top it all off, I was given the opportunity to work on the team responsible for restoring good relations with Greece, ultimately resulting in Macedonia becoming a part of NATO.”
