“We were working with Steve Jobs after he left Apple to start NeXT Computer. Our agency handled BMW and Steve was enamored iwth the sleek, sophisticated approach we had pioneered for ‘The Ultimate Driving Machine’ in the United States.

After presenting our launch campaign for NeXT to Steve and his team (Steve liked it), we entered a spirited discussion aboutdigital technology and the future of film making – for commercials and film. In the middle of the discussion, Steve grabbed me by the arm and said, ‘you’ve got to see what therse guys are doing’.

Steve ushered us down the hall to reveal a team of sleep deprived digital engineers who were harda t work. It turned out they were creating the original animation for the first digitally animated ‘desk lamp’, the technological breakthrough that soon ushered in the launch of a new company called ‘Pixar’.”
